TERMS & CONDITIONS
By Booking Items from Bowen eBikes, I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following rental terms and conditions:
Regarding Usage:
- HELMETS are REQUIRED to be worn at all times while riding bicycles rented from Bowen eBikes. If a customer is seen riding the rental bicycle without a helmet, they will immediately have to return the bicycle with no refund.
- eBikes are rented out clean and in proper working condition and must be returned in the same manner.
- It is the responsibility of the customer to check the bike BEFORE setting out on any ride.
- I will respect the rules of the road and comply with BC RoadSafe regulations around the safe operation of bicycles in road traffic. An assessment of capability will be conducted prior to the start of the rental to ensure that the customer is able to ride the bike safely and with control.
- I will only use eBikes must on roads or multi-use trails designated for bikes (signage will indicate where these are located).
- I will not take the eBikes on mountain bike trails, hiking trails, offload trails, or on private roads.
- I will not take the eBikes off Bowen Island. They are not permitted to be taken on any vessel including the ferry.
Regarding Damage Deposits:
A pre-authorization is held on the booking credit card for $250/group.
- I authorize BOWEN EBIKES to charge the credit card they have on file for me for all eventual costs in case of damages to the eBike(s) during my rental period, comprehensive of labour, except in the case that I can demonstrate other’s faults with evidence and all necessary information for reimbursement.
- In case of theft, I will be responsible for reimbursing BOWEN EBIKES for the original price of the eBike(s), plus the cost of any accessories that were provided at the time of the eBike rental.
I Acknowledge the Refund Policy Below:
We do not issue refunds in the following instances:
- Day of Cancellations: Within 24h of the rental. (Ex: 11am the day prior for an 11am rental).
- Short Riders who are not skilled: Normally, our minimum height is 5’0″. Unless you are an exceptional cyclist. It's not about height, just wether or not you can ride without having your feet touch the ground when stopping. If you've prevented bookings of other riders, we can not issue a refund.
- Riders over 242lbs booking smaller bikes: We will try to get you onto our stronger bikes. If we can not, we can not refund you if you have prevented the bookings of other riders.
- Riders over 300lbs: Unfortunately, we do not have bikes for you. Please book the LSV instead. If you have prevented the bookings of other riders, we can not refund you.
- Overbooked Time: We do not refund for time that you booked, but did not use. Example: If you booked for an all day rental (8hours), but show up, only for the last 5 hours of the day, we do not refund you 5 hours. Instead, please book for 2 hours, and remain out as long as you like.
- Returning Early: Please book for the shortest possible time you think you will use the eBikes (2-3 hours), and we can always charge the difference when you return.
- Intoxicated Riders: Do not show up after having had any alcoholic beverages. You will be turned away if you smell of booze or make jokes about drinking; then saying you were just kidding. We can not process refunds for riders showing up under the influence or joking about being under the influence.
- Underage Riders: Do not make bookings for eBikes for those under 16. We can not legally rent to these people in British Columbia. If you have made a booking and show up with a rider appearing under 18, we will ask for proof of age & deny service to those under 16.
- On the roadway issues: We can not process refunds if you do not call us asking for assistance. We can not process refunds if you deny assistance. See Issues on Roadway below.
- Refusing Assistance: If you deny receiving assistance, we can not refund you.
I Acknowledge the Allowable Refund Policy Below:
- Snow, Smoke, Heavy Rain: We do not rent in snowy or icy conditions. We do not advise renting in terrible air quality conditions. You will not need to worry about our 24h cancellation policy should there be Snow, Ice or Terrible Air Quality. We do not cancel for mist. We will cancel the eBikes in heavy rain automatically. Not you, or the bikes, enjoy being soaked.
I Acknowledge the Cancellation Policy Below:
We offer a 24h cancellation policy. Let us know up to 24h before the start of your rental, and you get a 100% refund. If it is smokey, snowy or heavily raining, we will cancel your reservation. If you choose to go out in Smoke or Snow or Rain, we can not cancel your booking due to weather alone after you leave the shop with the bikes.
I acknowledge the providing chargers policy below:
We provide chargers for those going for 3hours or longer. If you opted out of taking chargers, and ran out of battery power, we can deliver new batteries or chargers for a fee. Chargers are not given out for 2 hour rentals, unless specifically asked for as batteries should last 2.5-3.5 hours of cycling time.

Issues on the roadway:
Should you have any issues with the operation of your eBike, please call us immediately. We will drive out to meet you on the island with a new eBike, if one is available. If we cannot get your eBike working, or get you a replacement, we will happily provide a refund for your remaining rental time. If the bike has been damaged due to user error, we can not process refunds & a minimum damage charge applies. We can not process refunds if you do not call us asking for assistance. We can not process refunds if you deny assistance.
Wait times for pickup after crashing:
If the eBike becomes non functional while riding; we will bring you a new eBike. Note, this can take up to an hour. We do not charge for this wait time, and add on equivalent time to your rental to make up for this. If you just want a pickup after a bike broke down, we do not charge for these & can take up to 7 people & 6 eBikes at one time.
